Baghdad Wedding: A Review

Review: Baghdad Wedding

The Review

From the optimism of London to the despair of Baghdad via the hell of Abu Gharib prison, Baghdad Wedding is a panorama of images of life before, after and now in Iraq.
It’s not just the wedding of Salim that goes wrong but dreams, aspirations, loyalties and principals that surrender to the indiscriminate spray of bullets.

The sarcasm from the characters though humorous on the surface yet deep at the bosom of their hearts manifests as the pain of the foregone moonlit nights now eclipsed forever by bullets and choppers and can’t be obliterated.

The script keeps on moving nostalgically between past and present highlighting the differences between the intoxicating beer of London and the glass shred in the cornea of Baghdad.

The music echoes that Baghdad was beautiful until you interfered.

You ponder as you walk out “Mr. Bush were bombs the only option!”

Comments

  1. Baghdad wedding will remain special for me coz this was my very first experience of the enchanting world of theaters. It was like a rebirth on my birthday itself.
Really, the characters ,the drama ,the Arabic music and the clever lighting created almost a replica of the reality at the stage . The powerful performances stimulated a wide range of emotions and the presence of humor in the conversations added a flavor to it. :)
