An Invitation

Hey, Did you say Sunday?

O Yes! Sunday! A lot can happen on a Sunday!

On a lazy Sunday afternoon laid on the bare floor of your veranda you can spend hours gazing at the endless clouds floating over your head in a clear blue sky. And just then you realize what a tiny dot you are in this Milky Way!

On a Sunday, you can be at the lunch or the dinner table of a Bengali friend of yours. And while indulging yourself voraciously at some dishes divine enough for the GODS themselves you can swear that from thereon, “I live only to eat from here on”!

Or on a Sunday, still better, you can choose to laugh out loud!

Loud enough to dissipate your worries and troubles away, far away!

So take that stretched walk this Sunday evening around BEL’s exceptionally green surroundings to wander into the BEL auditorium better known as BEL Kalakshetra.
And as you enter inside you would find some brilliant artistes on stage enacting a story in a language as sweet as the Rosogolla itself.

What’s the story?

The story is about Munni, wife of Sourav and a home-maker. As Sourav invites his Boss Mr
Dhritikanta Ghosal for dinner in the hope that he can convince him to grant permission to take Munni on his upcoming business trip to Tripura, the drama unfolds.

Amorous Mr Ghosal has plans otherwise.

Not only he refuses the permission but offers to provide protection to Munni on Sourav’s absence. The petrified couple now look for cover and alternatives. The couple’s close friend Gogol is asked for help. But he can’t be trusted either. So the couple’s uncle, Pom, has to be called despite being apparently a callous character. To watch over his callousness, Latika fondly known as Latu aunty’s help is sought after. But alas! Latu aunty who is also Pom uncle’s sister and spinster can’t stay away from her beloved pet cats!

Before Sourav leaves he takes the help of another two characters for the protection of his wife. Harishchandra, his neighbour, and secondly a local goon named Shetla though the latter is only fictitious.

In this milieu, Mr Ghosal and his security guard Khasnabish are on the run threatened by a possible kidnapping and extortion attempt by Mrs Sunanda Ghosal, Mr Ghosal’s wife and aspiring failed politician.

What unfolds is a panorama of stomach aching humour!

Would Munni be able to keep her honour and her husband’s job safe?

Would Mr Dhritikanta be able to escape from being kidnapped by his own wife?

Would Munni’s security guards live up to their expectation of keeping Munni safe from Mr Ghosal’s amorous dispositions?

Come and laugh out this Sunday, 10th of September 2017!

Though the play is in Bengali it is supported by English translations. However humour has no language, you see!
