If anybody in NJMC Khardah had so well disciplined a lifestyle and meticulously followed it were THE ROY BROTHERS.

A lifestyle I always tried to emulate during my high school days and at present when things go awry I use the above mentioned strict timelines to gauge out the leakage ( A Six Sigma Methodology to reduce variation in your daily efficiency and output).

ZETHI MAA herself used to teach THE ROY BROTHERS and make sure at least two revisions are done of each and every subject before the D DAY (the exams). It was during one of those afternoon teaching sessions during the summer holidays that I prowled restlessly on the spacious veranda of my single house overlooking the green field in the Raja Kothy. The evening was not far away when we would be there to unleash the Donalds, the Sachins, the Bebetos, the Maradonas in us.

From the neatly washed window curtains of the bedroom cum study room of THE ROY BROTHERS peeked a face more beautiful than usually noticed. I started, “Piku Da aajke bikele khelbo kintu...arre sono naa Govinda aabar .....”, I enquired if we are playing today and then mentioned Piku Da of a new dance comedy flick by Govinda. It did not stop there I showed him some of the steps too hoping he would just agree for the match in the evening and would not put study as an excuse. Needless to mention the dance steps would have put the Roshans now to jealousy.

This continued for some time with a lot of bragging and all through the face peeking from the window did not move and carefully showed only a part of it. Desperate I asked if we are playing and has he seen the hilarious song and dance, the face completely came out in the open and with a motherly affection asked, “Aami Piku Da? Aaen?” It was then I understood that why the face which was peeking from the curtains was more beautiful than usual, it was my adorable ZETHI MAA and not Piku Da. Piku Da can never be that pretty as my ZETHI MAA or her wonderful “Peethes” (Peethes are a Bengali dish made in gur and khoa).

Embarrassed I went back to study and never faced ZETHI MAA for the next two days while looking for an opportunity to bash up Piku Da.
